White Vinyl: Durable,
weather-resistant and can be used both indoors or outdoors.
Clear Vinyl: Durable and
weather-resistant material that appears nearly clear when applied. We
always recommend printing white ink behind the image area for greater
readability and to prevent halo effect. Adhesive is available on either
the front (face) or the back of most clear vinyl products.
Static Cling Vinyl: This clear
or white vinyl has a static charge that causes it to stick without
adhesive to most smooth, clean surfaces such as glass, plastic or
beveled surfaces. Removes easily and without mess. Clear
Static Cling stock is available with static on the front (face) or
back. White Static Cling stock is available with static on the back
only.
Polyester: A highly durable
synthetic film used for outdoor/indoor applications involving high
levels of abrasion or abuse. Polyester is resistant to most oils and
solvents, and will withstand longer periods of time in a moist
environment.
Thermal Foil
Stamped: Provides a metallic appearance using gold or
silver foil. Your imprint can be stamped on the following
pressure-sensitive paper materials: gloss white, black, scarlet red,
ultra blue and dark green.
Lapel
Stickers: Our Lapel Stickers are printed on 60# glossy
permanent adhesive paper and kiss cut. Intended for indoor
use only. Printing Method: Offset Digital - Full Color Process
White
Gloss: For a lustrous appearance. Used when it is not
necessary to write or type on the label.
White Matte: Excellent for
labels to be written on or typed on. Correctability may be limited on
some typewriters.
Static Clings - We'll print
your design on the front or back of the highest quality cling material
available. Classic.
Domed Decals - Domed
decals are covered with a thick, clear, poured polyurethane coating.
They are flexible and can be applied to slightly curved surfaces.
Permanent adhesive is the
primary adhesive on most of our products unless you request otherwise.
This is a general purpose adhesive appropriate for most applications.
Removable adhesive will allow
the label to be taken off once it is applied without leaving pieces of
the label behind. NOTE: A label will become permanent over
time or with exposure to weather.
Static Stick allows the label
to be removed and reapplied with no residue on a wide variety of
surfaces. This is what you typically see used at automotive centers and
is applied on the inside of your car window for your oil change. This
product is not recommended for use on fabrics.

My file worked for brochures. Why submit vector art?
|
|
Vector art
allows S4L to trap spot colors to improve registration. Many other
products are printed offset. The tolerances are much tighter
than in screen printing. Quark files often are converted into a vector
program for this reason.

|
|
|
Can I
increase the dpi to raise my resolution?
|
|
No, once the
art has had the dpi reduced, it cannot be increased again. The files should
be at least 300 dpi.

|
|
|
Do we
need white on clear products?
|
|
Yes. The
opacity of the inks will not hold up once the decal is placed on glass
or a colored background. White should be used to either back up the art
or as a flood behind the entire decal. Indicate which method to use for
the white on your order. Note: White is priced as an additional color
on clear products.

Why do
I need spot colors on my 4-color process art?
|
|
Large areas
of coverage and specific PMS matches are not guaranteed in screen
printing. Often, a spot color is needed to meet our clients’
expectations. Additionally, the small text or elements created out of
process colors will not hold up to the coarse lpi used.

|
|
|
|
When I
submit spot colors, why do you ask for 4-color process?
|
|
It really
depends on the art. Photographs and art with many shades are often
better as 4-color process. Art is often submitted with spot colors
identified, but unnamed or multi-color blends usually separate
themselves into CMYK.

|
|
|
My art
looked fine on the laser printout, but very rough on the decal. Why?
|
|
If a low-resolution tiff or grayscale art is submitted, it will look better on
laser paper. Laser or ink jet printers recognize shades of gray and
will not use a halftone dot. If the art is grayscale and no tones
requested, the art loses all the shading in the film process. Thus the
image detail drops out and prints very rough.
