1. What are some of the more Common sticker terms?
White Vinyl: Durable, weather-resistant and can be used both indoors or outdoors.
Clear Vinyl: Durable and weather-resistant material that appears nearly clear when applied. We always recommend printing white ink behind the image area for greater readability and to prevent halo effect. Adhesive is available on either the front (face) or the back of most clear vinyl products.
Static Cling Vinyl: This clear or white vinyl has a static charge that causes it to stick without adhesive to most smooth, clean surfaces such as glass, plastic or beveled surfaces. Removes easily and without mess. Clear static cling stock is available with cling on the front (face) or back. White static cling stock is available with cling on the back only.
Polyester: A highly durable synthetic film used for outdoor/indoor applications involving high levels of abrasion or abuse. Polyester is resistant to most oils and solvents, and will withstand longer periods of time in a moist environment.
Thermal Foil Stamped: Provides a metallic appearance using gold or silver foil. Your imprint can be stamped on pressure-sensitive paper that is available in the following colors: gloss white, black, scarlet red, ultra blue and dark green.
Lapel Stickers: Our lapel stickers are printed via an offset digital, full-color process on 60# glossy permanent adhesive paper and kiss cut. For indoor use only.
White Gloss: For a lustrous appearance. Used when it is not necessary to write or type on the label.
White Matte: Excellent for labels to be written on or typed on. Correctability may be limited on some typewriters.
Domed Decals - Domed decals are covered with a thick, clear polyurethane coating. They are flexible and can be applied to slightly curved surfaces.
Permanent adhesive is the primary adhesive on most of our products unless you request otherwise. This is a general purpose adhesive appropriate for most applications.
Removable adhesive will allow the label to be taken off once it is applied, without leaving pieces of the label behind. NOTE: All labels will become permanent over time or with exposure to weather.
Static Stick allows the label to be removed and reapplied with no residue on a wide variety of surfaces. This is what you typically see used at automotive centers and is applied on the inside of your car window for your oil change. This product is not recommended for use on fabrics.
2. My art file worked for my brochures. Why do you need vector art?
Vector art allows us to trap spot colors to improve registration. Many other products are printed offset. The tolerances are much tighter than in screen printing. Quark files often are converted into a vector program for this reason.
3. Can I increase the dpi on my art to raise my resolution?
No, once the art has had the dpi reduced, it cannot be increased again. The files should be at least 300 dpi.
4. Do we need white on clear products?
Yes. The opacity of the inks will not hold up once the decal is placed on glass or a colored background. White should be used to either back up the art or as a flood behind the entire decal. Indicate which method to use for the white on your order. Note: White is priced as an additional color on clear products.
5. Why do I need spot colors on my 4-color process art?
Large areas of coverage and specific PMS matches are not guaranteed in digital printing. Often, a spot color is needed to meet our clients' expectations. Additionally, the small text or elements created out of process colors will not hold up to the coarse lpi used.
5. When I submit spot colors, why do you ask for 4-color process?
It really depends on the art. Photographs and art with many shades are often better as 4-color process. Art is often submitted with spot colors identified, but unnamed or multi-color blends usually separate themselves into CMYK.
6. My art looked fine on the laser printout, but very rough on the decal. Why?
If a low-resolution tiff or grayscale art is submitted, it will look better on laser paper. Laser or ink jet printers recognize shades of gray and will not use a halftone dot. If the art is grayscale and no tones requested, the art loses all the shading in the film process. Thus the image detail drops out and prints very rough.
7. Is consecutive numbering available?
Consecutive numbering is available on many products. Please refer to the Online Catalog. Numbering also is available on many other items in addition to those shown. Call or write for pricing on these items. Note: We are not responsible for missing numbers.
8. Will you send a proof before my job is printed?
We will email you a digital proof for your approval before we process your order. This will help ensure that you approve an accurate representation of the final product. Please remember that production time does not begin until after the proof has been approved and returned.
9. Can I email my order to you?
Yes, you can send your order via email to [email protected] Please include the following when sending email:
1. Complete name, address, and telephone numbers
2. Note whether information is for a quote or for an order
4. Item Number
7. Colors, including names and numbers (i.e. #19 Fire Red)
8. Note whether art is to be positive or reverse
When we receive your email, you will receive a response from us stating that we received your file. If you do not receive this confirmation within a period of one hour after sending the file, please resend the file. It is a good idea to compress files to avoid problems during transmission. To assure we can accurately view your art, please send a JPEG or PDF file along with your vector art.
10. Can I order a non-standard quantity?
Yes. Any order calling for quantities between standard catalog quantities will be priced at the lower quantity price. Example: An order of 800 will be priced at the 500 unit rate.
11. Is there a charge for halftones?
Yes. Screens/Halftones of a color will require an additional charge of $45.00 (net). Both new and repeat orders are subject to halftone charges. Haltones are not available on all items.
12. What are the turnaround times for your products?
Our production time varies from product to product. Please refer to the Online Catalog for a production time for a specific product or contact a sales representative. Note: production times are approximate. Specific ship dates must be confirmed with our Customer Service Department. Production time will begin after the proof has been approved and returned.
13. Are rush services available?
Yes. We will, for an additional charge, produce an order in less than normal production time. Charges vary depending on our current work load, item involved, complexity of art, and production. We also offer several Quick-Ship items.
